WELCOME TO THE QUEEN AND KAAPI!

The Queen and Kaapi was originally started as a Wordpress blog primarily about living in London on a budget, during my days of being a student.

The Story Behind The Name:

Kaapi – the Tamil abbreviation for pure, aromatic filter coffee. The kind that makes you believe that all is right in the world again. No self-respecting Tamilian begins their day without this. My favourite thing ever. Despite growing up in different parts of India, I’ve always been a Madras girl. Having the sun beat down on my face and burying my toes in sandy beaches have been part of my daily routine for most part of life. In 2014, I decided to shift to the land of the Queen. No sun, no sandy beaches and certainly no kaapi. I wanted to create a survival guide for all those who were new to London and "thequeenandkaapi" Wordpress blog was born. 

Eventually, I started loving and relating to the name so much that I decided to stick with it for this website as well. Both the blog and this website are authored by me, a 20-something girl from south-India who has a penchant for (budget) travelling, exploring, eating, binge-watching Masterchef Australia and pretending to be in a Jane Austen novel during her spare time. And oh, also an uncanny ability to spot ‘half-price’ items hidden away in any store.

I find travel to be therapeutic and the best way to learn about the world and its many enchanting tales. Over the years, my love for travel has taken me to some of the loveliest places and had resulted in a tiny treasure trove of experiences. I hope to share all of them, along with travel tips, through this website.
